Witchspire: Resource Farming Routes Guide

Community-reported
  1. 1
    Unlock your core tools
Craft a sickle at the Workbench, then unlock the Pickaxe blueprint (Hearth level 2+) and the Furnace blueprint from the same central skill tree branch. These are prerequisites for every resource route below.
  2. 2
    Farm Wood and Premium Wood
Pick up fallen branches or chop small trees with your sickle. Premium Wood comes from the larger trees, which also drop apples when felled. Premium trees are visibly bigger than standard saplings.
  3. 3
Collect Spirit Dust from Mini-Bro enemies
Spirit Dust drops from Mini-Bro enemies in combat. The tutorial introduces this early; if you skipped it, hunt any small hostile mob near the starter zones.
  4. 4
    Get Charcoal two ways
Burn plain wood in a furnace, or head to the Ink Crater (Inky Vent) and chop flaming trees to get Wood and Charcoal in one swing. The flaming trees are a one-time clear. Assign a familiar to the furnace to speed up smelting.
  5. 5
    Smelt Copper Ingots
Mine orange-veined rock nodes, common near flame biomes and the Ink Crater, then smelt the ore in a furnace fueled with charcoal. The Ink Crater route bundles wood, charcoal, copper, and a regional familiar in one run.
  6. 6
    Smelt Iron Ingots
With pickaxe and furnace online, mine iron nodes near the Witchspire (where story keys are inserted) or in the cave the main quest leads you to for a hidden key. Smelt raw ore the same way as copper.
  7. 7
    Unlock and farm Gold Ingots
Reach Mining skill level 10 and Blacksmithing level 4 (both level passively as you gather and craft), craft an upgraded pickaxe, then mine gold deposits on the beach from the comet-chase story sequence. This is a late Early Access gate, so plan a dedicated session.
  8. 8
    Locate Silver Ingots
Mine silver ore with your pickaxe and smelt at the furnace. Unlike gold, silver is location-specific: start from Mirella's Shop, head to the map marker northwest of the shop, and search the northern desert cliffsides. Once Eastell is open, check cliff nodes around the Mira Isles Flight Pillar.

How to Farm Resources in Witchspire: Routes That Actually Work

Main quests in Witchspire demand ingots, ritual components, and biome-specific flora long before the game tells you where to farm them efficiently. This Witchspire farming guide pulls together community-tested routes for every major Early Access resource — from starter wood and Spirit Dust to Azure Flowers on the desert river route — so you stop guessing and start stocking your Hearth.

Treat every number and location below as community-reported, not official. The meta is still shifting, so re-verify sources after each patch using the in-game Materials database.

Get Your Tools Online First

Before any of these routes make sense, you need three unlocks in place:

  • A Workbench to craft your first sickle.
  • The Pickaxe blueprint from the central skill tree, available at Hearth level 2 or higher.
  • The Furnace blueprint from the same skill tree branch, so you can smelt ore into ingots.

If you have not unlocked furnaces, pickaxes, or Hearth tier upgrades yet, work through the survival basics first — then come back here. If you are brand new to the game, this doubles as a solid Witchspire beginner guide milestone list: tools, then routes, then volume.

Wood & Premium Wood

Wood is the resource you will burn through fastest, so it pays to farm it on purpose rather than by accident.

Pick up fallen branches from the ground, or chop small trees with a basic sickle crafted at the Workbench. Premium Wood comes from the larger trees — those also drop apples when felled, so a premium logging run doubles as a food top-up.

Two habits worth building:

  • Craft your first sickle at the Workbench before serious logging. Bare-handed gathering is slow and you will feel it the moment a build project starts.
  • Premium trees are visibly bigger than standard saplings. Learn the silhouette and you will spot them from a distance instead of felling every sapling in sight.

Spirit Dust

Spirit Dust drops from Mini-Bro enemies in combat. The tutorial phase introduces this early, so most players already have a few stacks before they need it.

If you skipped or rushed the tutorial, hunt any small hostile mob near the starter zones. Spirit Dust is a common ritual component, so farming it takes no special route — it is a byproduct of normal combat near where you spawn.

Charcoal

There are two ways to get Charcoal, and the second one is where the real value hides.

The standard method is burning plain wood in a furnace. The faster method is heading to the Ink Crater (Inky Vent) and chopping the flaming trees — each swing yields both Wood and Charcoal at once.

The flaming trees in the Ink Crater are a one-time clear, so this is not an infinite farm. But a full sweep of the crater can hand you charcoal, wood, copper ore, and a regional familiar in a single trip — which is exactly why it belongs on your route list rather than your backup list.

Tip: assign a familiar to your furnace to speed up smelting. This is one of the most underrated uses of a familiar for a farming-focused player — see the Witchspire familiar guide sections on workstation assignment if you have not tried it.

Copper Ingots

Copper is your first real ingot gate, and it is gated behind two unlocks plus a route.

  1. Unlock the Pickaxe blueprint in the central skill tree (Hearth level 2+).
  2. Unlock the Furnace blueprint from the same branch.
  3. Mine orange-veined rock nodes — these are common near flame biomes and around the Ink Crater.
  4. Smelt the ore in a furnace fueled with charcoal.

Because copper nodes cluster near flame biomes, the Ink Crater run mentioned above bundles wood, charcoal, copper, and familiar hunting into one efficient loop. If you are chasing efficiency, this is the single best early-route in the game.

Iron Ingots

Once your pickaxe and furnace are online, iron is straightforward.

Mine iron nodes in two reliable spots:

  • Near the Witchspire itself — the structure where story keys are inserted.
  • In the cave the main quest leads you to while searching for a hidden key.

Smelt the raw ore exactly like copper: charcoal in, ingots out. No new tool or skill requirement sits between you and iron, which is why it is worth stockpiling early rather than scrambling for it mid-quest.

Gold Ingots

Gold is a late Early Access gate and the most demanding entry on this list. The community-reported requirements are:

  • Mining skill level 10
  • Blacksmithing level 4

Both skills level passively as you gather and craft, so they rise naturally if you have been farming the earlier routes. On top of that you need an upgraded pickaxe crafted, and then you can mine gold deposits on the beach reached during the comet-chase story sequence.

Plan a dedicated farming session before returning to base — this is not a resource you can grab on the way past.

Silver Ingots

Silver follows the same workflow as copper and iron — mine silver ore with your pickaxe, then smelt at the furnace — but the location is the hard part. Gold appears on many early routes; silver does not.

Community-reported silver routes:

  • Start from Mirella’s Shop. Head to the map marker northwest of the shop and search the northern desert cliffsides.
  • Once Eastell is open, check the cliff nodes around the Mira Isles Flight Pillar as a follow-up route.

Because silver is location-specific, narrow your route instead of sweeping the whole desert. Pick one cliffside cluster, clear it, then move to the next — wandering the dunes looking for sparkle is the slowest possible way to farm it.

Bundle Your Routes: The Efficient Loop

The biggest time-saver in this Witchspire guide is not doing any single route faster — it is chaining routes that share a biome. The Ink Crater is the clearest example, since one sweep can produce wood, charcoal, copper ore, and a regional familiar together.

A practical ordering for a farming session:

  1. Starter zones — wood, premium wood, and Spirit Dust from Mini-Bro combat.
  2. Ink Crater — flaming trees for wood and charcoal, plus copper nodes on the same trip.
  3. Witchspire / quest cave — iron nodes while you advance the story.
  4. Mirella’s Shop → northwest desert cliffsides — silver, then Mira Isles Flight Pillar once Eastell unlocks.
  5. Beach (comet chase) — gold, only once Mining 10 and Blacksmithing 4 are met.

Tie every trip back to your Hearth: smelt in batches, keep a familiar on the furnace, and use the story quests as a Witchspire quest guide overlay so farming and progression happen on the same route rather than as separate grinds.

Verify After Every Patch

This is community data, not official documentation. Locations, hearth-level gates, and skill thresholds have all shifted across Early Access updates, and the one-time Ink Crater clear in particular will not reset for you.

Before you commit a full session to any route, confirm the current source in-game or via the Materials database. Farm smart, route your biomes together, and let your familiars do the smelting.
